Research-Creation & Critical Making
Research doesn’t need to be exclusively textual; sometimes the best way to think through questions is by making art or machines.
I’m one half of an experimental noise band with my Cultural Studies co-worker Kelly Egan. She plays film strips through effects pedals and optical sound readers; I mess around with handmade synths and other unconventional paths to electronic sounds. By taking things apart we learn how they work better (or, sometimes, how they work constructively worse).
